Characterization of white adipocyte heterogeneity using data-driven microscopy

Using Cytely's data-driven microscopy platform, researchers profiled hundreds of individual human fat cells and found that many co-express high levels of the subtype markers DDR2 and PLIN1 alongside consistent GLUT4 levels, evidence for distinct mature adipocyte subtypes and a scalable way to validate single-cell heterogeneity first identified by transcriptomics.

PQBP1 couples HIV-1 capsid recognition to cGAS recruitment through conformational remodeling

Innate immune detection of HIV-1 starts when PQBP1 recognizes the incoming viral capsid. This preprint shows that capsid engagement remodels the intrinsically disordered PQBP1 into a cGAS-competent conformation, and maps the distinct regions responsible for capsid binding versus cGAS recruitment. Cell identification and per-cell quantification of cGAS-PQBP1 proximity ligation puncta were performed with Cytely AI image analysis.

Hematology as a Tool for Wildlife Health, Research and Conservation

A book chapter on how hematological reference values underpin wildlife health assessment, conservation biology and evidence-based management. Sacrificial redox modulation by a secreted bacterial effector molecule mitigates oxidative stress and inflammation in vivo

The skin commensal Cutibacterium acnes secretes RoxP, a protein that acts as a sacrificial redox target, absorbing oxidative attack on behalf of its human host. Fluorescence imaging of sebaceous follicles localizes RoxP alongside C. acnes on skin, mass spectrometry maps the residues that take the oxidative hit, and in vivo experiments show that RoxP lowers oxidative stress and stress-induced inflammation — the first in vivo mechanistic description of a secreted prokaryotic effector modulating host redox balance.
